Traffic Concerns

All Terrain Vehicles (ATV)

  • To operate an ATV in Saskatchewan, a person must be 16 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Any person operating or riding as a passenger on an ATV is required to wear a helmet and appropriate eye protection.
  • Youth between 12 and 15 years of age can only operate an all-terrain vehicle if they have successfully completed an approved ATV training course or they are directly supervised (meaning on the same ATV or on their own nearby ATV) by a person who has held a driver’s license for the previous 365 days.
  • Individuals under the age of 12 are forbidden to operate an ATV (with or without a licensed individual).
  • For more information, please see www.skprevention.ca
  • Failure to comply can result in charges being laid by the RCMP.

Golf carts

  • Golf carts are to be driven during the day only.
  • The number of passengers allowed are limited to the number of seats.
  • All drivers must carry a minimum of a valid Class 7 driver’s license (learners).
  • Failure to comply can result in charges being laid by the RCMP.

Boats

  • Transport Canada limits speeds within 30 meters of shore to a maximum of 10kph.
  • All wake-board and wake-surfing boats should respect in-shore swimmers and paddlers by staying as far away from shore as possible and giving them a wide berth.
  • We encourage all boaters to consider the inhabited shoreline to be a “no wake” zone.

Fire Ban Lifted

The fire ban implemented by the RM of Bjorkdale on May 12th has now been lifted. Normal activities can be resumed.

A copy of the Fire Restriction Bylaw providing authority to the RM for fire bans can be downloaded at this link. All residents should take note of the restrictions on fireworks and the potential fines that can be levied in the event of contravention of the bylaw.
