Fire Ban – ATV/UTV Restrictions

Consistent with the Provincial restrictions now in place given the ongoing wildfire risk, the RM of Bjorkdale is now requesting that the operators of all ATVs and UTVs refrain from using them on public and private land.

Please click this link for further detail.

PLEASE NOTE: this request and the fire ban were lifted on June 9th.

Fire Ban in Effect Immediately

Due to the extremely dry conditions the RM of Bjorkdale No. 426 has implemented a FIRE BAN, effective IMMEDIATELY.

This applies to all land within the RM of Bjorkdale No. 426, including the resorts at Marean Lake, and will remain in place until further notice when the fire risk is reduced.

Fireworks, all open fires, and any device with an open flame (like fire tables) are prohibited until this ban is lifted. The use of enclosed gas BBQ’s and indoor fireplaces/wood burning stoves are still allowed.

PLEASE NOTE: this original fire ban was rescinded on May 15, 2025 following rain in the area but was REINSTATED on May 23rd and subsequently lifted on June 9th.

Join Us For Some Winter Fun!

Once again the Marean Lake Advisory Committee, Klinger’s Trail and Christ the King Camp have partnered to provide some winter fun on December 28th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Please join us for our 3rd annual winter festival.

This would also be a great time to try out the new cross-country ski trail if you haven’t already done so.  It’s located on Christ the King land and also starts by the green space (please only use it for skiing, no walking or snowshoeing since that damages the ski track). Please come and enjoy the afternoon with us!  Last year we had great weather and over 300 people attended.

Similar to last year, there will be horse-drawn sleigh rides on the trail, a large bonfire, free hot dogs, coffee and hot chocolate. This will all take place on the Christ the King green space (near the start of both Klinger’s and the cross country ski trail) which will be plowed for parking of vehicles and snowmobiles.

Fire Ban Now In Effect

NOTE: this fire ban was removed on August 1st.

Due to the dry conditions the RM of Bjorkdale has implemented a FIRE BAN, effective IMMEDIATELY.

This applies to all the resorts at Marean Lake, and will remain in place until further notice when the fire risk is reduced.

Fireworks, all open fires, and any device with an open flame (like fire tables) are prohibited until this ban is lifted. The use of enclosed gas BBQ’s and indoor fireplaces/wood burning stoves are still allowed.

Please respect this ban and protect our resort.

Wake Zone Reminder

Just a friendly reminder to understand the importance of reducing speed in designated “no wake zones” on the water. In this busy inhabited area, boats are required to operate at a slow speed to minimize the wake created by the vessel. This helps to decrease erosion and reduce accidents and injuries, safeguarding swimmers, kayakers, paddleboarders, and other boats–all who have a right to enjoy the lake in a safe and respectful manner.

Additionally, activities such as water skiing, wake boarding and tubing should not be performed in no wake zones. These activities are better suited for areas where higher speeds are permitted and where there is less risk of disturbing others or causing accidents.

The lake population has grown considerably over the years and while having no precautions in place may have been satisfactory for many years, with the addition of wake boats and higher powered motors over those years, the concerns have grown as well.

By following these guidelines and being considerate of others sharing the water, boaters can contribute to a safer and more enjoyable experience for everyone. Slowing down demonstrates basic courtesy and consideration for others fostering a sense of respect and community. If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to contact MLAC.
